HTML5 is the fastest growing web development trend. More and more people build HTML 5 sites. YouTube and Vimeo adopt HTML5 too. According to Wikipedia, OGV, MP4 and WebM are supported in HTML5. If most of the viewers of your website are using computers to visit, I recommend you to try VP8 WebM format. Or if they prefer to view your site on Android or iOS portable devices, H.264 MP4 is a better choice.

How to play MKV on Nexus 7?

Nexus 7, with up to 9 hours of HD video playback and 323 pixels packed into every inch, is a great tablet to enjoy movie anytime and anywhere. Besides viewing online movies on it, sometines we also want to enjoy local movies on Nexus 7.  Most local movies I have are in MKV format. Matroska format (MKV) is an efficient digital video storage format which can contain several video, audio or subtitle track. It will let you get smaller file sizes for video and audio and keep the same quality.
However, the mkv videos can not be played on Nexus7. I searched on Internet and found Nexus 7 only could support MP4, DivX, Xvid, H.264, H.263 and WMV format.

What I should do is converting my MKV movies to a Nexus 7 more supported format to playback MKV movie on Nexus 7, such as mp4 or wmv. Bigasoft Total Video Converter seems to have the ability to convert from MKV to MP4.  I added all the mkv videos into the software and select HD H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Video (*.mp4) profile. I want to keep HD quality to get best view on Nexus7. It finished the converting fast. Great! The converted mp4 videos from MKV format can be played on my Nexus 7 without any issue.

It seems that Bigasoft Total Video Converter also can convert my other videos, such as DVD vob, FLV or Webm videos from website to Nexus 7 more supported format, such as mp4 or wmv. With this MP4 Converter, all the videos will be played well on Nexus7. In addition, I also find MKV Converter on Mac.  If you are mac user, this one will be a good choice.
