Talk about subtitle. You may say that I have seen subtitles in MKV and DVD. Some subtitles are embeded into video stream and most mkv videos contain subtitle track which can be extracted to single file. There are also other subtitle formats, such as MicroDVD .sub, Subrip .srt, VOBsub .sub + .idx.
.sub + .idx subtitle are in image format and can not be edited. However, as text format, .sub and .srt is widely used. You can open it by Notepad and change the words and time mark. Also, subtitle files are classified to hard, Prerendered and Soft. Let's talk about it later.
For me, I use SRT subtitle a lot. It is easy to edit and give it the same name as video. When play it, the subtitle will be added automatically. And Google srt, there will be lots of sites that share srt files. When you want to learn a second language, it will be useful. However, not all players support such format subtitle. Sometimes, we need to add srt into video stream for media devices.
Yesterday, I found a video from YouTube and got an easy solution. Test some of my devices, such as phone, tablet and DvD player. It works great. If you have the same issue, have a try.
